Which Raynor Models This Applies To

Raynor uses a few different bottom seal profiles depending on the door series and vintage. Most residential Raynor doors built in the last 15 years, including the Aspen, Mesa, and Pinnacle series, take a T-style or bulb-style vinyl seal that slides into a retainer channel at the bottom of the door. Some older models use a simple U-shaped astragal that wraps the bottom panel edge directly.

The gotcha with Raynor is that the retainer channel width isn’t universal. We’ve pulled seals off doors where the previous seal was a generic 1/4-inch T profile wedged into a channel that actually needed a 5/16-inch bead. It holds for about a season, then the wind peels it right out. That’s why we measure the channel and match the profile, not the brand sticker. OEM Raynor seals are fine, but brands like Universal and Action Industries make equivalent profiles that hold up just as well and often cost less per foot. We stock both and tell you the difference before you decide.

The problem is usually getting the right profile. Buy a generic seal at a big box store, force it into a Raynor channel it doesn’t quite fit, and it’ll fall out within months. If you want to check your own door, look at the retainer channel width and measure the old seal’s T-bead or bulb diameter. But if the old seal is so far gone you can’t tell what shape it was, that’s when the job gets difficult.
